Medical Massage

Massage therapy is one of the most ancient forms of healing, and has been practiced for thousands of years in all regions of the world. Today massage therapy spans a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, working to improve an individual’s health and wellbeing through hands on manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues of the body. It has been proven beneficial for reducing stress, enhancing blood circulation, decreasing pain, promoting sleep, reducing swelling, and increasing oxygen capacity of the blood. New uses for massage therapy continue to be discovered as scientific research on this valuable healing modality continues.

While there seems to be universal agreement that massage “feels good”, it also offers many specific benefits. The therapeutic use of massage affects all systems of the body, most particularly circulatory, muscular, facial and nervous systems. Massage therapy is also effective in the control of pain – both chronic and acute, in stress reduction and in creating a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

60min 40 €.

Lymphatic Massage Within us all there is a silent system working to keep us healthy- the lymph system. Without it our bodies would swell up like balloons, swamping our cells with stagnant fluid. The lymph system's impact is so far reaching that many don't even realize that minor aches and pains, low energy or susceptibility to colds and flu may be due to a sluggish lymph system and a compromised immune system.

Lymph vessels make an intimate mesh-work that covers every inch of your skin, and surrounds each organ in great detail. The lymph vessels start very small in what are called the initial lymphatic. Over 70% of the initial lymphatics are in and just under the skin. By performing lymphatic drainage massage correctly, we can stimulate the opening of the initial lymphatic and increase the volume of lymph flow by as much as 20 times. But if we push too hard, we collapse the initial lymphatic, diminishing the lymph flow. Excessive pressure can even break the filaments that hold the initial lymphatic in place.

Deep Tissue Massage

60min 55 € / 90min 75 €.

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

40min 30 €.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing complementary therapy which uses the feet to treat the whole body. The treatment involves massage and specialized thumb and finger techniques to stimulate specific reflex points on both feet. The feet represent a map of the body, the right foot corresponding to the left side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the right side of the body.

Reflexology has the capability of bringing about a state of deep relaxation. When the body is relaxed and stress is reduced, physical and emotional healing is possible. Tension is released, muscles cease to contract, and blood vessels relax. This allows the body systems, including the excretory system and lymphatic system, to function efficiently, eliminating toxins and impurities.

Everybody can benefit from this natural, non-invasive therapy. It can be used either as a one-off relaxation treatment or on a regular basis in order to target specific health conditions.

Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy but with highly concentrated plant oils, called essential oils, added to the massage oil or lotion.

The nostrils are attached to a part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. When you inhale essential oil molecules, messages are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system. Essential oils are also believed to be absorbed through the skin. Each essential oil has different healing properties. For example, some calm while others energize. Here are some widely used essential oils and their purported properties:

  • Calming - chamomile, lavender, geranium
  • Uplifting - ylang ylang, clary sage, rose, neroli
  • Energizing - rosemary, lemongrass
  • Cleansing - rosemary
  • Decongesting - eucalyptus, pine, tea tree

Sesame Seed Oil

Sesam Oil Sesame Seed oil has been used as healing oil for thousands of years. Sesame oil is mentioned in the Vedas, (the Vedas is a large body of texts originating in ancient India) as excellent for humans. It is naturally antibacterial for common skin pathogens, such as staphylococcus and streptococcus as well as common skin fungi, such as athlete’s foot fungus. It is naturally antiviral. It is a natural anti-inflammatory. Seed Oil has been used extensively in India as a healing oil, including in experiments which showed it was useful in unblocking arteries. In recent experiments in Holland by Ayurveda physicians, sesame oil has been used in the treatment of several chronic disease processes, including hepatitis, diabetes and migraines.

Eucalyptus Oil

Eucaliptus Oil Muscle pain: If you are experiencing joint and muscle pain, massaging eucalyptus oil on the surface of the skin helps to relieve stress and pain. The volatile eucalyptus oil is analgesic and anti-inflammatory in nature. Therefore it is often recommended to patients suffering from rheumatism, lumbago, sprained ligaments and tendons, stiff muscles, aches, fibrosis and even nerve pain. The oil should be massaged in a circular motion on the affected areas of the body.

But why are massages so good for health? During a massage, as the skin is rubbed with oil and the muscles are subjected to light pressure, they are agitated and the blood circulation below the skin and in the muscles is stimulated. This increased circulation brings more oxygen to tissues and the tissues are revitalized, speeding up healing and growth. This increases the rate of metabolism as well. Furthermore, the oil that seeps through the skin keeps the skin soft, smooth, and moist by not letting moisture escape. This oil collected under the skin, when it reacts with sunlight, also aids in the formation of Vitamin-D.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil Now, why is coconut oil such ideal massage oil? When massage alone can do so much good for the body, then think what it can do if it is done with oil like coconut oil. If you do your research, then you will find that there is hardly any oil that can match the quality of coconut oil when it comes to massage. Let’s look at some more specific reasons... First of all, the presence of such a high concentration of medium-chain fatty acids (saturated fats) makes it very stable oil. So, when you rub coconut massage oil on your skin and leave it for a few hours, you don’t need to worry that it will become rancid and damage your skin or invite infections. Second, the presence of powerful anti-microbial agents like cupric acid and lauric acid in coconut oil do not let microbes infect your skin.

The layer of such stable oil full of saturated fats on the skin does not let moisture escape, thus protecting it from drying and cracking. Coconut oil is rich in vitamin-E, your skin’s best friend. It keeps your skin rejuvenated, young, and healthy. Coconut massage oil is gifted with a lot of antioxidants, so it can keep you looking young even in your seventies. These antioxidants do not let the skin wrinkle and also protects it from other adverse effects of ageing, like sagging, peeling, and discoloration. Coconut oil penetrates the skin very easily while massaging and can serve very well if used as carrier oil for other herbal extracts, essential oils, or medicines. Last but not the least, the fragrance of coconut oil is unmatched. It is so earthy and soothing that it keeps you fresh all day and eliminates body odor.
